Career Spotlight - Jen

Jen Centre Manager

Hi, I’m Jen and I have been with company for 13 years!

I started as a full-time front desk team member in Hamilton! I loved being a front desk team member, it was super busy I loved dealing with our guests, managing the booking sheet it was always go - go - go. The team were amazing, and I loved coming into work! After completing my induction, passing my probation, and getting a couple of months of service under my belt I was promoted to a team leader which was super exciting. I learnt how to open and close the building as well as valuable leadership skills. I then spent a couple of years as an Assistant Manager before being promoted to Deputy manager in 2019. Fast forward to 2023 I was promoted to Centre Manager and was given the opportunity to move to our centre in Burlington. This was exciting but also a big change as I had worked in Hamilton since I was 17, but the last 9 months being the centre manager in Burlington have been epic, I have learnt loads and my confidence has increased dramatically.

Working at Splitsville is great because there is so much room for personal development and career growth. The opportunities are endless for my progression which keeps me engaged and driven every day. Every day is fun, and I love that I am able to show my personality at work and do not have to dull myself down, every day I get to be a creator of positive energy. The business is a people focused business and an as a people focused manager I totally align to the core values, I love the recognition and reward programs and think that’s super unique to our business. I love the varied nature of the centre manager role, no day is the same, one day I might be writing by budgets and the next singing happy birthday to a guest who is celebrating their birthday with us. The job is hard at times but the sense of achievement I get every day make it so worth it.

I am a working mom and the varied hours really suit me, a Monday to Friday 9-5 job would never have worked for me and my son, but this job allows me to work around my home life so I never have to miss out on things with my son.

The support at Splitsville is great, the support centre are amazing with so many people who are experts in their field. I loved the in personal regional meetings once a month which is a great way for me to learn from my fellow centre managers and share ideas and best practice with each other.
